Last season was the big premiere for Jirko Malcharek behind the wheel of the BMW M6 GT3. He get used to this car this season and he’s showing that he is the one of the fastest drivers in FIA CEZ Championship. The only one Slovak driver in Formula 1 doesn’t race because of cups and points.
We saw you this season only in Hungary and Austria but you were always one of the fastest. How do you like this season results?
I’m happy with the progress of our performance and we are also getting used to to M6 with setup. We don’t actually work with complete telemetry so we have some reserves. We were the fastest in qualifications and races so I’m happy with the partial results.
Last year you were getting used to to M6 GT3. What was the main reason for your speed up?
We didn’t know anything about M6 last year. We were just driving it not actually racing it. Plan for this season was to really race it on the limit so with help from Karel Neffe and his boys we are quite far to getting used to the car. I’m pleased to Racing Trevor team that we have this unique opportunity to race this car.
You have raced on Hungaroring with your son Christian in International GT Open. Are you planning more starts in such prestigious championships?
Yes, series like GT Open or Blancpain GT are championships where we wanna race more and more starting next year. I think 13th place from 24 profi GTs is good result and be 0,3 sec behind platinum drivers is also not bad. We would like to be in TOP10 overall in the future but for it’s only nice dream.
Grand Prix of Slovakia is getting closer. Is this the biggest race of the season for you?
Well in it’s own way yes but GT Open is bigger league. For sure home is home and we wanna make best possible result. Our advantage with my son is our serenity but we have big difference in approach. I believe that there will be great competition as last year and we will enjoy great weekend with son, family and our friends.
What are your targets in this season in FIA CEZ?
Me and my son don’t have any ambitions. I would race even without the points. The only thing I wanna do is to fight for the best result on track in specific race. I don’t care about overall standings. We are living for each race weekend and for each race.
