Jakub Knoll is once again one of the fastest sprint race drivers in FIA CEZ. It’s not easy for driver from Beroun because the competition is powerful this season. How does he like the first half of the season and how he is preparing for its rest?
Jakub, we are in the middle of the season. How do you like it?
It’s not bad when you see the results – but it’s also thanks to luck. I’m not happy that I don’t have any full-fledged win – it was the penalty of Jirko Malchárek which helped me on Red Bull Ring and technical failures of my rivals in Most. From this point of view is this season very frustrating. On the other hand I’m enjoying the cooperation with Senkyr Motorsport team and racing with BMW M6.
It looked like your biggest rival will be Jirko Malchárek when the season started, however Richard Chlad jun. and Marcin Jedlinski are faster and faster every other race. Did you expected that every race will be so challenging?
I’m not surprised with better performance of Richard especially. I knew that the lap times from Hungary are not the best he can because I know him from Lamborghini Super Trofeo where we were team mates 5 years ago. It was only matter of time when his team get used to new car and the same could be said about Marcin.
You have tried both BMW M6 GT3 and older brother Z4 GT3. Which suits you better?
Both cars are very different but I like both almost the same. M6 is little bit comfortable for driver but I have more mileage with Z4 so it’s hard to say which suits me better.
You are going only to Slovakia Ring and Brno in FIA CEZ championship. What’s will be there your main target?
My target will be to forget my performance from Most where it was really bad from my side. I would like to say that I want to be in fight for the best places but it would be quite bold after my Most performance.
You have competed in ADAC GT Masters with Senkyr Motorsport on Red Bull Ring in June. Do you planning some another race in similar prestige championship?
It’s hard to say. It’s in negotiations. We would like to try International GT Open but if we go for it it would be on at the expense of FIA CEZ in Brno. But nothing is 100 percent sure.
We are in the middle of summer break. How do you enjoying it and how are you preparing for next races?
I was hoping that we could do some race to shorten the summer break but we wouldn’t do any race. We are planning some testing instead.
