In just a week’s time the FIA Central European Zone Circuit Championship 2016 gets under way. As usual, the first event will be taking place at Hungary’s Hungaroring, where an already seasoned line-up of Czech drivers will once again be raring to go.

The circuit is 4,381 m long and has been resurfaced since last year, so we can safely assume that the track will be slippery. Still, after hosting this weekend’s WTCC, the track will no doubt have a bit more rubber on it.

The championship starts at the Hungaroring and winds up in September in Poznan, Poland. Twice it will be making a welcome appearance in the Czech Republic: first up from 17–19 June in Most, Northern Bohemia, and later on 10–11 September in the South Moravian metropolis of Brno at the local Masaryk Circuit.

One interesting fact are the dates of the Hungarian event: everything has been moved one day forward. There will be no racing therefore on Sunday 1 May, the meeting will take place from Thursday to Saturday instead. The races themselves generally last about 25 minutes, or 25 minutes plus one lap. The final act of the event will be the endurance race, which will last about an hour. The new Octavia Cup also gets its premier at the Hungarian circuit.
