FIA CEZ Championship continues in Austria, amazing duels expected under Alps

Just one week to go until the beginning of the next FIA CEZ event! After a cold weekend at Hungaroring, the drivers and their teams are travelling to popular Red Bull Ring.

Red Bull ring is undoubtedly one of the most modern circuits in Europe despite the fact that its racing history is not very long. While Hungaroring did not see the entire fleet of Central European racing stars, the starting grids of Red Bull ring shall be very well featured.

The Alps will hear the engines of various racing specials but even now, it is clear that the fans will be asking only one question. How many GT3s are going to race in Austria? Well, the answer is here. Just across majestic mountain of Ameringkogel (2187 m), there will be 8 cars of this specification, racing in sprints together with ten more, competing in GTC category. All in all, we may expect solid number of 18 Grand Turismo cars.

In total, there will be 23 racers fighting in the “great spring” and – besides expected duel of M6 GT3s, we may look forward to returning team of Reiter Engineering with two Gallardos GT3 or successful team of Scuderia Praha with two cup Ferraris.

In addition, Team of ARC Bratislava is also coming back to FIA CEZ, after they skipped Hungary. Their racers – Miro Konopka and Konstantin Kalko will drive Huracans Supertrofeo.

One-seater category is planning expansion too. In total, there will be 33 drivers, 18 of them racing with F3 specials. We will not see Paolo Brajnik in Puresport team formula since it will be driven by another Italian Dino Rasero. However, Brajnik is coming to Red Bull Ring after all, but he will represent team of Franze Wösse. Besides Brajnik, another favorite is definitely Swiss Sandro Zeller, who was very successful at Red Bull Ring even last year. Surprisingly, Zeller will have to face also Bartolomiej Mirecki, although he said he would not take part any other FIA CEZ race. Mirecki was a tough competition for Brajnik in Hungary and he was even able to beat him in the first race.

One-hour endurance race is offering a great starting grid too. In joint race of FIA CEZ and German series of DMV GTC, we expect to see 43 cars. Almost half of them are GT3 vehicles. While Petr Kačírek will compete with returning Audi R8 LMS Ultra (K&K Duck Racing) in sprints, in endurance, this special will be driven by his team mate Marcel Kusín.

Similarly to Hungary, the endurance race will feature almost complete starting grid of „great sprint“ with most of GT3s and GTCs, together with two Alpinas B6 GT3 of Slovak team Trevor Racing. They will be driven by Gregor Zsigo and Jakub Kubas.
