Josef Záruba used to race from 2013 to 2015 in formula series with one-seater F Renault 2.0. This racer from South Moravia (Czech Rep.) was thinking of moving into higher formula category but surprisingly, he disappeared from racing last year. Fortunately, he has returned this year with cup Gallardo of Mičánek Motorsport team and he achieved two victories in Hungary in D4-GTC category.

Josef, if I am not mistaken, Hungaroring was your first racing weekend since 2015. Was it difficult for you to find the right pace and the limits of the car?
Yes definitely, all in all, I haven’t raced for a long time so I had to spend some time looking for myself. However, thanks to many kilometers I drove in Brno while testing with Mičánek Motorsport I got used to the car and I benefitted from it even in Hungary.

You’ve brought two victories back from Hungary – one form sprint and one from endurance race. Were you satisfied with your performance or are you aware of some mistakes?
I am happy were 100% successful as a team. We won everything we did – be it qualification, sprint or endurance. I am satisfied with my performance but it would be even better if it rained a bit. Maybe I could keep up with GT3s.
